Termites “It’s not if it’s when”!

Termites, are they your best friend or your worst nightmare? According to Dow Agro Science most recent study, Termites cause 5 billion dollars in damage each year from invading our homes, to commercial structures or anything that provides food to sustain their need for living. Termites in Texas have become prevalent and make themselves known during the springtime to early and sometimes later summer months, most of us find Termites by seeing with our eye the mud tubes they build, but what you don’t see is what hits your pocket book, Termites are constantly foraging for a food source and they don’t know the difference between the wood studs in your walls to dead tree stumps in your yard or firewood piles up against your home. Termites work 24/7 365 days a year without ceasing ttermiteo feed their colony and they never sleep. The termites we have here in Texas are mostly subterranean so they live underground and they can forage up to 250 feet from their colony. Remember termites don’t know an address they just know where the food sources are.

FACT… We identify Termites by the mud tubes on the walls, unfortunately when mud tubes are found the damage in most cases have already been done! This is why preventive actions are so important in the state of Texas.” It’s not if it’s when”

Surguard Termite & Pest Services can protect your home from these silent invaders by installing the Sentricon Termite Colony elimination system around your home, it’s like having us in your home 24/7 365 days a year protecting your greatest and largest investment. Termites in North Texas

Termites in North Texas

Are you seeing black, winged insects in your home?

Reproductive termites are darker brown. They have wings, two sets of equal length. They are typically about 3/8 inch long. These winged termites are called “swarmers”, they are reproductive with the duty of mating and starting new colonies. When they begin to swarm they may loose their wings. So you may see wings laying around and just the termite bodies on the ground. Many confuse termites and ants. Termites have two body segments and two sets of wings of equal lengths. Ants have 3 body segments and two sets of wings but the are not of equal lengths. The swarmers are sometimes the only thing that homeowners may see to alert them that they have a termite infestation. Termite swarms typically occur from March to May in North Texas. If you think you may have a termite infestation give us a call.
