Parasitoid Wasp – What is That?

What Are Parasitoid Wasps?

Recently one of our customers called and said our mosquito treatment did not seem to be working.

So, myself and one of my managers went over to the home to see what was going on. As we walked into the back yard and saw something hovering. As we looked closer, they were not mosquitoes. Upon further inspection we identified them as Parasitoid Wasp.

These wasps actually live in the ground. They lay their eggs on bodies of other arthropods. They typically do not bite humans. We were able to get these unusual pests taken care of for the homeowner.
